Booking online was easy, and the staff made us feel welcome with how kind they were. De Modern Hotel is simple, clean and elegant, with reasonable prices. I had a comfortable, pleasant stay and spent a few lovely days in town. I'd happily recommend it.

For a work trip, I spent three nights here. The smaller rooms really are small, and there's no kettle for making tea or coffee in the room. It's functional. Breakfast was a limited but nice continental spread, things like croissants, salami, yogurt and coffee. Apart from that, it was a nice, quiet hotel. -Mike

Clean and affordable, but the room was the smallest I've seen. The bed sat right by a poorly insulated window, and traffic was heavy even at night. I'd pay a little more for somewhere else.

I went to a wedding and ended up locked out of Bistro Hotel de modern for the whole night. I wasn't the only person this happened to that night, which makes me think their system is broken and they don't care enough to invest in a replacement. After I complained, they returned my money, but there was no apology, no admission they were at fault, and no empathy at all. That's the worst part for me. I wouldn't recommend staying here. If something goes wrong, they simply don't care.
