The rooms were OK, and I am thankful that the owner answered the phone at 3am when two rooms had not been properly checked in and we couldn't get access. Still, the whole experience was dominated by how the owner treated us. She was extremely rude, couldn't accept criticism, never acknowledged a mistake or said sorry, and showed no empathy. I expect this review will get an aggressive response. We got married in France and held the party at a nearby castle. I arrived at noon to get ready before taking an organised bus to France. I only needed five minutes in the toilet to put on my jacket and blazer, since I didn't want my suit to be out of shape when arriving by car. Instead, she started yelling and insulting me. We had booked 10 rooms altogether. Apparently, payment for 4 rooms hadn't been finalised correctly. Rather than tell us at check-in or when we passed by a few days earlier, she held my wife's children there, locking in the young adults and making them pay after we'd already left for the airport for our honeymoon. She called us thieves. Problems can happen and be handled calmly. There was no need for all this drama. If she'd been more proactive and clear when we checked in, the later room access problem could have been avoided too. Her dog barked in the middle of the night and early in the morning. There was a Sense coffee machine in the lobby but no coffee pads, so guests had to go downstairs to the bar and pay for coffee. Someone with so little empathy shouldn't be working in a service job meant to make people feel at ease. We won't book this place again. With so many weddings nearby, weekend reception hours should also run later than 15 till20h. The manager seems full of bitterness, and can stay in her bitter world. Goodbye, and never again.
