The owners were very nice and friendly, and the apartment was lovely. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment in the area.

The riverside setting of Apartment GF 2 on the ground floor is lovely, and it was still a nice place to stay. But the rooms need a more thorough check before guests arrive. The shower drain was so blocked that after a minute or two I had to turn the water off to stop it overflowing into the bathroom, which has no other drain. There were dirty cooking utensils, stale water in the coffee maker, and dirt or mold on the salad spinner and pasta strainer. The fridge's ice compartment was clogged with ice. The stovetop shut itself off twice, even though nothing on the surface seemed to be triggering an emergency shutdown. Cables were hanging from the wall above the kitchen, the light switches were worn, and the towels in the closet were crumpled. There seems to have been too little investment in the rooms over the years, and the price-performance balance has become lopsided. €250 for two nights for two people felt overpriced.

Inside, the apartment was tidy and very clean, with all the facilities needed for a stay of several days. Mine looked out over the River Weser, which gave it a very rustic feel, and the bed and mattress were great. The building itself isn’t much to look at from outside, and as I was on a bike I had to work out exactly where it was. It’s in the 'Unterstadt', so getting to the small center and its dining options means walking up the hill and back down. Still, that was refreshing.

Booking number: 5994.393.870. The location was good, but cleanliness fell short. There was hair in the bathroom, a dirty towel, and expired coffee that was two years old. The owners weren't cooperative when I asked for compensation.
