Corbie Geel

The hotel’s local artist has decorated the place throughout, giving it a distinctive look. My room was clean, and during the hot spell the fridge and complimentary bottle of water were much appreciated. Breakfast was a very good buffet, and the staff were helpful. It’s in the pedestrian centre, overlooking the square and fountain, with plenty of good restaurants nearby. A good hotel for visiting Geel and the JRC. A few practical notes: reception is on the ground floor at the back, reached through the restaurant/shop area at the front when open, or via the side door near the parking garage. The back door works with your room key, or you can use the buzzer to reach staff. Reception isn’t staffed around the clock and is locked after hours. Someone is onsite for check-in from 4pm to 11 pm, and the front desk is open for check-out from 7am to 11am. Contact the hotel if you’ll arrive outside those times.

The thin walls were the biggest problem for me. I could hear a neighbour bathing at midnight, their phone vibrating at 2am, and everyone walking down the corridor, so bring ear plugs if you stay here. The studio had the basics, plus a kitchenette and cooking utensils, which was handy, but it felt sterile and the sofa looked very old, with lots of tears and cracks. The hotel and breakfast area, by contrast, are decorated in a chic, modern style. Breakfast didn’t have a huge selection, but the quality was very good, especially the bread. The receptionists were helpful, though not as enthusiastic as I’d expect. The location right on the square is great, close to nice places to eat and an Irish pub. I was in Geel for business and only stayed two nights, so it was good I didn’t need to spend much time at the hotel.

It’s easy to explore the city from this central spot. The rooms are clean and modern, the staff are friendly, and the stay was comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast had a tasty, varied selection and added to the positive experience. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

The room was spacious and clean, with a good bed, but it got a little too warm and could use a refurbishment. The bathroom fixtures seem designed for tall people, since both the sink and toilet are mounted rather high.
