Green Hotel

You get a bed and shower, and not much else, but it was clean and good value if that's all you need. There's usually nobody around, though getting in is easy once you have the room card. The only curtains are blackout ones, so take care, since people across the road might otherwise see more than they'd expect.

The quiet, pleasant location is very handy, almost right across from the train station, and I'd stay here again despite a few hassles. Check-in was unattended. I called as instructed, confirmed who I was, and got a code for the wall key safe, which held my keycard. Finding the room took a little searching. It was narrow, with a bed and a small bathroom behind it, but clean and practical for what I needed. The wall charging points didn't work, and I couldn't figure out the coffee machine. There were no instructions that I could see, and I wasn't familiar with that type, so staff kindly gave me coffee from the breakfast bar in the morning. The front door gave me trouble too. The green light and click showed it recognized my card, but pulling the door wouldn't open it, so a few times I went in through the bar entrance instead. My card hadn't been charged, and the email said payment was due on arrival, but there was no open office or anyone asking me to pay during my stay. Eventually I asked the restaurant staff, who got hold of the owner. Their machine wouldn't take my card, even though it had worked for my bar bill the day before. We sorted it out, but the arrangements felt chaotic.

The breakfast buffet was good, and it's a small, nice hotel. Check-in only starts at 3 pm, which wasn't convenient for a music festival that began at noon and ran until 4 in the morning. The manager went out of their way and brought the room keys to the festival venue. Fantastic!

Clean place, nice location, and friendly staff. The nightly price is good too. 5 out of 5.
