Hotel ZUID

The only real drawback was the air conditioning, which made noise overnight. Otherwise, the hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms are very nice. Parking is easy to access, with electric car charging, plus locked bike storage where you can charge e-bikes. It's well placed for exploring Genk and the surrounding area. Breakfast and dinner were both great.

The staff were very friendly, and both the breakfast and restaurant were good. But the rooms were far too cold, and the bathroom felt like a fridge. They only seemed to heat the rooms when guests arrived. For a three-star place, that wasn't good enough.

We found the area lovely for walks, with a supermarket and pharmacy no more than a ten-minute walk away. The hotel itself was charming and the staff made us feel very welcome. We stayed three nights and received high-quality service throughout. Though we hadn't asked for daily room cleaning, they replenished the toiletries and towels without us having to request them. Our room was well heated and had a hairdryer, large closets, and a shower.

Parking was plentiful and convenient, and the WiFi stayed strong throughout our visit. The location is another plus, with nearby attractions easy to reach. Our stay at Hotel ZUID was just okay, though, because some avoidable things got in the way. The clean room had no electric kettle, which was inconvenient. Room service also disappointed: they didn't replace the soap or towels, and we weren't sure the sheets had been changed. One morning, children playing loudly in the alleyway woke us early and disturbed the quiet. It has a good location, parking, and WiFi, but the missed room-service details and missing in-room convenience brought the experience down. It's a decent option if location matters most and you're not too concerned about the finer details.
