The room was spacious and clean, but I was traveling to Evergem for work, not catching a train, and my colleague insisted on booking this hotel 😳😳. I suspect the owners keep the air-con remote away so guests can’t use it without their permission. Soundproofing could be better too, since I could hear people flushing toilets. I don’t know what breakfast cost, but it was very shabby, which I can understand given how many rooms the hotel has. If you need to catch an early train, it’s pretty okay. For seeing the city, I’d choose somewhere else.

I spent 4 nights here and found it convenient for getting around Belgium’s main cities. The train station is really close, with easy trips to Bruges, Anvers, Brussels and elsewhere.

The room was a good size, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The location is nice: there’s a nearby train station for trips to Brussels or Bruges, while the bus gets you to the center in 10 minutes. The room lighting is dim, and there’s no fridge or AC. October was fine, but I imagine summer could be difficult. They say parking is free, but it’s actually paid street parking from Monday-Saturday, 9h-19h.

For a walk to the city center, allow at least half an hour. The hotel isn’t worth the price by any means. Everything seemed to need renovation. The old furniture came with a matching smell in the room and corridors, there was a large brown stain in the shower, and the bed linen wasn’t proper (see photos). The mattress was bad, the pillows tiny, and the hairdryer broken and sticky. The shower head needs replacing, and the staff were unfriendly.
