The room was clean, and the bathroom was quite decent. Staff were friendly and helpful, and from outside the place looks nice beside the neighboring buildings. But the room was much nearer the station than I’d expected, with the tracks visible from the window. There’s no air conditioning, so you have to leave the small windows open, and then the night trains and mosquitoes are both hard to ignore. We had a rough, short night. I’d only suggest staying here if you have no other option.

With the windows shut, there were still mosquitoes everywhere. And next door, some kind of party kept going until after 4 a.m. on a Monday night. I assume it came from the neighboring building, since the hotel corridors themselves were quiet. I had a really bad night and can’t recommend this place.

It does the job, but the rooms get stuffy even in spring because there’s no air conditioning. Open the windows and you can hear the trains passing roughly every fifteen minutes.

I got into Ghent late and couldn’t check into my university accommodation, so I stayed here for a night. The place has a quaint vintage feel that I loved. The stairs are a little steep, so you might need a hand with luggage. My room was divine, and breakfast the next morning was delicious.

The rooms are thoughtfully laid out and more than comfortable enough. It’s a big plus being close to the train station, and the welcome was warm, with plenty of support for newcomers and visitors to the city. I think anyone could stay here without hesitation.
