Radisson Blu Hotel, Hasselt

For a short stay of 1-2 nights, this hotel is fine, but don’t expect luxury. The room was okay and the breakfast just so-so. It’s very budget-friendly, so you get what you pay for, but no more. A reasonable pick if you just need somewhere simple and affordable.

Just a 3-minute walk from Hasselt’s main square, this hotel is well placed in the city center. The rooms are comfortable and have what you need, and there’s a very good gym to use.

For my brother’s wedding, we booked several rooms, but on arrival some of our wedding party were moved to the sister hotel, Park Inn, because this hotel was overbooked. They said they’d received an update, though the other hotel’s rooms were much more outdated and not as nice. Some of my other relatives were told their reservations had been “cancelled.” Almost nobody in our party had an issue-free stay. Several rooms were dirty. I found a dirty sock in the closet and stains on the sheets. My parents’ room had a dirty fridge with leftover food, and my second brother, who was sent to the sister hotel, had a room with a broken light and a dirty microwave with leftovers from the previous guest. On the wedding day, the bride’s mother was refused a bottle of champagne for her room. At checkout, despite my “do not disturb” sign, cleaning staff woke me quite early, at 9.00, and were rude because I hadn’t left yet, even though checkout was at 11.00 or 12.00. I understand a hotel can have a mix-up once in a while, but this was one of the worst hotel experiences my family and I have had. The location is really the only thing this hotel has going for it.

A very bad stay, and I wouldn’t recommend booking here. The toilet was under the bed, the cleanliness was poor, and the service was very bad.
