Belvedere

A fantastic stay, and the restaurant was great too.

If you get the right room and floor, there are lovely views of the Flanders countryside from the balcony. There are also nice walks into the nearby woods, and it’s great for a jog. The hotel is relaxed, clean, and welcoming, with friendly service, a good breakfast, and good value. The bathroom has a bathtub, which was fine, though I’d have preferred a shower.

The room had a nice balcony, and the location was great. Service was friendly, the bar was pleasant, and breakfast was good. Everything was immaculately clean, with a great bathroom. The in-room tea and coffee setup could be better.

We stayed for the Ypres Kattenstoet weekend in 2018, and I’d happily stay again. For a budget price, it offered plenty, and I liked the hotel. The staff were friendly and left us to ourselves unless we needed them. Our spacious, comfortable room 11 was at the back on the second floor. It had a shower-bath, a two-ring hob, microwave, fridge, kitchen sink, and plenty of cupboard space. The minibar fridge was annoyingly packed with drinks. I wouldn’t use the expensive bottles, though there was a broad choice of soft drinks and local beers. The hotel sits wonderfully on a ridge, with fantastic views at the front. At the back, the woods block the landscape view, but they’re still relaxing to look at. There’s parking behind the hotel as well as out front. A number of cats in the back car park made it look like a scene from the Sleepwalkers. I didn’t see any rats or vampires.
