Hotel Fauwater

We chose this hotel for its location and because it was meant to be child friendly. The location worked well for us, and the indoor play area was okay, but the advertised outdoor play area and pool weren't there. During our stay there was a festival on site, with loud music until 11 pm. I wish we'd known when booking. When we arrived, the parking attendant kept trying to promote the festival even after we said we were staying overnight and just wanted to park and rest after a long day. That got annoying. The hotel is basic but comfortable, clean and good value. The beds were nice, breakfast was good, the WiFi was strong, and the burger at the bistro was delicious. Service there was slow, though: we waited 45 minutes after ordering, despite being the only customers. A septic tank smell came and went, and was really unpleasant at times. Thankfully, I couldn't smell it in the room. We phoned reception with a question, but the man who answered didn't speak Flemish or Dutch. I also left my coat in the wardrobe, which was completely my own fault. We called a few hours later to collect it, while the room was still unoccupied. The coat was already gone, even though only staff had been in the room since we left. It's an alright place for a night or two, and the food was good. The room was comfortable, and the price was good.

The shower was excellent, and my small single room had everything I needed, including a comfortable electric bed and a TV with British channels. The owners were very friendly and spoke good English. I stopped for a night while on a motorcycle trip, and the breakfast was a basic continental one. I wish I'd stayed longer. The decor is funky, but don't let that put you off.

The friendly staff made this budget hotel feel especially welcoming. I arrived after the food service had ended, and a kind gentleman working there offered to bring me a tasty kebab. It was a thoughtful surprise, and the staff were helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. My room was clean and had the essentials for a comfortable visit. I thought it was good value for the money, and would recommend it for the clean rooms and warm service.

This little family run place feels homely, with friendly service and good food. It's out in the countryside and has an ecological approach, including solar panels and a water filter system. A pleasant place to stay.
