The village was a lovely change from the noisy city, with locals chatting at the bar and no tourists around. We called looking for a place to stay that night and the owner welcomed us warmly. He does all the cooking himself, and he’s a great chef. He sometimes brews beer too, and pointed us toward beers from nearby breweries. Dogs are welcome if they stay calm and don’t damage anything. The interior feels inviting and fits the place. Santé 🍻

The included breakfast was served each morning just off the bar, and I enjoyed Guido’s dinners for their quality, value, and convenience. On race days, he also packed lunch and drinks for the drive. They even did my laundry twice during the stay. I was there from 1-18 April 2022 for cycling races, including Ronde VV, Schelde, Amstel Gold, Paris Roubaix, and others. Guido and his family are wonderful hosts for the six rooms at the back, and I made good friends with people living nearby. It became a home for me, and I plan to return every year. I also loved talking with Guido in his kitchen, especially if you enjoy cooking. It’s a great base for cycling, beer, and sightseeing, with something for everyone.

We ate here on two days in a row. The second time we hadn’t booked, but the owner still managed to cook for all five of us. It’s a friendly, busy cafe and well worth a visit if you’re in town. There’s also a vending machine outside with restaurant quality meals, like rabbit with prunes for €10.
