Floréal La Roche-en-Ardenne

The apartment area feels very old and was dusty, not especially clean. Check-in wasn't possible until 16:00. There was no air conditioning, and we even had to put on the duvet covers and pillowcases ourselves as part of the self-service.

The setting is the best thing about this place, with lovely woods, streams, and hills all around, just right for hikers. But dogs aren't allowed in the hotel. Inside, things feel dated. The shower is very narrow, and the beds are narrower still. I couldn't turn onto my side without feeling like I might fall out. Worst of all, one person with us was served raw chicken at dinner.

We came for my parents' wedding anniversary and waited two hours for dinner without getting anything, while the group of cyclists was served every five minutes. We waited patiently, but when my dad finally said something, the staff scolded us in French. This wasn't the first time we'd been treated badly. On another visit, we arrived five minutes early for dinner and my dad politely asked the hostess where we could sit. She waved her hands and said, “6 o'clock.” He didn't understand, so she repeated “6 O CLOCK” very rudely, gesturing right in his face. The exchange was in French, so she did understand us. If you're thinking of eating here, don't. And if you've already been treated horribly, don't give them another chance. It was just as bad the next time.

For a short stay, the room was acceptable, though nothing special. The beds were a little narrow and may not suit everyone's comfort preferences. There was also a faint smell in the air when we arrived, possibly cigarettes. The furniture worked fine, but felt dated and could do with an update.
