La petite Naimette

Getting up to the apartment with luggage was difficult and felt unsafe: the wooden stairs are steep and narrow, and there’s no elevator. Inside, the main bedroom lets in a lot of light at night and early in the morning, so sleeping properly was hard. Cleanliness was another big issue. We arrived to a strong, unpleasant smell like raw fish and a large dead fly on the floor. The bed hadn’t been made, and after travelling we had to fetch sheets and towels from the garage and make the bed ourselves. We were also expected to wash the plates, glasses and cutlery before using them, then leave everything clean when we left. Since that job falls to each guest, many dishes were already dirty when we got there. It gave the impression that cleaning depended on previous guests rather than a professional service. There’s a “welcome” sign, but the stay felt like we were left to handle everything ourselves. For paid accommodation, the experience fell short on cleanliness, comfort and access.
