We tried three rooms during our stay: room 10 was very good, the 202 suite didn’t quite convince us, and room 11 felt worn. Some rooms could use a refresh or a little more coziness, though parts of the shared spaces have been renovated recently. The hotel is well located, but noise from squeaky or slamming doors and people passing by carries through, so bring earplugs. We had one lovely receptionist and another who was less pleasant. He came at 11.03am to get us out while we were just about to leave; an extra 10-15 minutes would have helped us end the stay on a better note. For a 2 days booking, I also received 10 emails, 2 SMS and 2 WhatsApp automated messages. That’s a lot to deal with when you’re trying to relax or work. A nice hotel with things to improve.

The old building has its quirks, including poor insulation, but its charm and location make it our favorite place to stay in town. We come every year to visit family and love staying at Hof van Aragon. It’s an iconic hotel and event space right in the heart of medieval Lier, with spacious, rustic rooms. Breakfast and the Sunday restaurant service are excellent.

The event spaces would make a very appealing venue. My room is modern and decently equipped, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is great, with lots of options.

We had a positive stay, despite seeing quite a few negative comments. The area is ideal, right in the centre but still quiet, and there’s a big garden too. The staff were really kind and flexible, and breakfast was plentiful. Our room was good, and the restaurant is ancient and beautiful. The house is very large and old, so keeping up with renovations must be difficult. Some parts do need work, but I think the age gives the place a lot of charm.

The staff were really nice and attentive, and the hotel is close to the centre. Room 29, though, felt a bit sterile and dated, and there was clearly a painting missing from behind the bed. The showerhead wouldn’t stay attached to the rail and kept sliding down. It was also super hot in the room, with no fan. Opening the window helped a little, but let in lots of mosquitoes. Maybe ask for a first floor room if you want a cooler temperature.
