I rented Les Terrasses de Malmedy with my son for several nights. The accommodation was pleasant enough and in a great location, but getting my security deposit back has been a nightmare. The owner asked me to pay the deposit directly by bank transfer rather than using the more secure option of a credit card. I transferred it from my own account. She says she refunded it to the same account, but after looking into it further, I found that the money had actually been sent to a French bank account in my son’s name. Three months later, I’m still trying to get my deposit back. For anyone staying here in future, don’t send the owner the money directly by bank transfer, because you have no backup for getting it back.
