In Den Bonten Os Hostellerie

The hotel is well located, but early morning construction work took place right in front of my room. We arrived in the evening and couldn’t find anyone to check us in or hand over the keys for about 10 minutes. I gave the clerk the correct invoice address, but the invoice I later received was handwritten and unreadable. Good luck getting that approved by your accounting department :) We were leaving early on the last day, but the clerk couldn’t remove breakfast from our booking. After I suggested several options, we ended up with breakfast in the minibar. I was surprised I had to work out a solution myself. The room’s interior was old and could have been cleaner, with hairs and stains. There wasn’t an electrical socket in any usable spot, and the bathroom ventilator didn’t work. In my opinion, all this would be okay at a budget hotel, but not at a 4 star place with these room prices. I don’t recommend it.

The room was quiet and dark at night, and the TV had good cable channels. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast was okay, with bread and different toppings, but it lacked the basics: bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, and white beans in tomato sauce.

Breakfast was really good, while dinner was so-so. The rooms were spacious and cozy. We stayed two nights and used the conference room, breakfast, and dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but after a long day indoors they still couldn’t serve us outside. I also noticed the comments about the staff not being talkative at all. I wouldn’t recommend the location if you want nature nearby. You need a car to reach walking routes, or else you have to walk a while along bicycle lanes.

The service was fantastic, and the room was big, cozy, spotless, and had beautiful views. The bed was very comfortable too. We arrived on Sunday evening, when there’s no front desk service, but they had arranged everything so we could check in. They’d even prepared breakfast for us to enjoy on Monday before we left, since we were leaving soon.
