The hotel is handy for the main attractions, though Mechelen isn’t all that big. We got a very nice welcome, and the rooms were nicely presented. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, with eggs cooked just right. I’ll definitely stay again.

We’ll certainly be back to recharge from hectic city life. Hartelijk bedankt Marijke & Matthew family, with love from Rotterdam. This 400-year-old mansion sits in a quiet part of Mechelen, surrounded by an old-world atmosphere. It’s been renovated with so much care and has lovely details that make the stay memorable. You don’t just share the family’s home and their love, you feel like part of it. Matthew is a welcoming host and father figure, looks like Robert de Niro, and earns compliments for that and for being there to arrange an excellent breakfast. There are free bicycles too, for riding around. Be gentle with the people you love and surround yourself with real things.

Such a clean, cozy place, in a beautiful area with an old beguinage and a medieval feel. We got a very warm welcome and enjoyed the delicious breakfast.

Staying in this lovely house from the golden age of local architecture was a great experience. The host was kind and friendly too.
