Kurt clearly cares about the place, and we enjoyed hearing what he knew about Mechelen and the surrounding area. Porta Superia is well looked after and close enough to walk to the old town. The highlight was the amazing breakfast Kurt served us. We wish we could have it every day. We also appreciated having a secure place to store our bikes, and hope we can stay again.

The rooms are cosy and nice, and breakfast was satisfying and delicious. Just keep in mind that there are two flights of stairs, so big bags could be a problem if you can’t carry them. The third-floor room is a little wild, with transparent toilet windows, so privacy may not be for you. Kurt was incredibly warm and helpful in planning our one-day stay at Porta Superia. We had a fabulous time and wish we could have stayed longer. Now we have a reason to come back to Mechelin.

Such a stunning place, with great rooms, a fantastic breakfast, and the best host you could hope for. The location is great too. Highly recommend it for a trip to Mechelen.

My room was fantastic, with lovely decor and a really comfortable bed. There was fresh, delicious tea in the room, and the shower was great. The bathroom products smelled very nice too.
