Hotel Lepelbed Melle

Breakfast was superb, with a wide choice of fresh food, and the staff were welcoming and very helpful. We had a pleasant stay in a large, comfortable room that had space for our dog too. Gent Centre was easy to reach by car.

Breakfast was good, the service was super friendly, and the location worked well enough for us. We drove to a park and ride to get into the city instead of walking to the nearest train stop. The rooms were large, with a massive bathroom and amazing shower pressure. There were some problems during our stay, though. Sewage drainage issues meant a strong smell came from the rear exit by the parking lot every morning. The bedroom walls are paper thin. My husband could sneeze or cough at the far end of the hallway and I could hear him from the stairwell. Our bathroom also had a moisture problem: the extraction fan couldn’t handle the steam from a shower, and everything was still covered in water an hour later. Use the hairdryer at your own risk.

The owner was kind, attentive, and very helpful. Hotel Lepelbed is a comfortable, cosy family-run place with its own private parking. Our room was clean and quite large, with a TV, small fridge, and hair dryer, while the large bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower. We also had an extra rag for warmth and comfort. It’s about 10 km from central Gent, with convenient access by car, bus 33 to Gent Zuid, or tram T2. The tram stops near many historic sights in Gent’s beautiful medieval centre, and the trip takes around 30 minutes. I recommend this lovely hotel for a visit to Gent, and I know we’ll be back soon.

The rooms were clean, breakfast buffet was great, and there’s a wonderful Thai restaurant nearby. It’s a great family-run hotel, with helpful, friendly staff and a tram stop just a 10-minute walk away. I’ll stay again next time I’m in the area.
