Homeboat Nieuwpoort

We spent the day on the boat, even cooking there, which we hadn't done in years. The view was beautiful and breathtaking, and the spot was ideal, just a few minutes' drive from Nieuwpoort. The decor was lovely too. Juliette's sandwich shop supplied breakfast, delivered punctually to the boat each day with the newspaper 📰. It brought back a real sense of nostalgia. We'd definitely do it again.

Anna responded very quickly when we reported the rat, and a member of the port staff came to put rat poison on the boat. That was too risky for my dogs, so we left a day early. The rat had made noises by the kitchen at 11:30 p.m. two nights earlier and seemed to have gone for the garbage. I'd taken the trash out, but by the next morning it had been targeted. We'd also seen a rat on deck on our first evening. The boat itself is beautiful and in a quiet spot with a pleasant view, but we couldn't enjoy the stay as we'd hoped. Cleanliness was poor: the canal-facing living room windows and coffee maker's water tank were in a deplorable state, and one bunk bed sheet had hair and was dirty when we arrived. We got a replacement two nights later. On our second day, a light shower of rain cut the power in the early afternoon. It turned out water had submerged the macerator toilet's power supply. Waiting for a technician and the repair took up the afternoon.

We had a wonderful time on the houseboat and would definitely come back! The large windows looked out over the canal, where we could see a few boats, birds and sometimes ducks. It was peaceful, and the little terrace was just right for morning coffee in the sun. The modern houseboat was very well equipped, and the bedding was really comfortable. Such a lovely place for a romantic getaway. ❤️

Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The living room and kitchen are really beautiful, and the location is especially lovely at sunrise and sunset. The bedrooms were okay but nothing special: the children's bunk beds are tiny, and the main bedroom isn't large either. That's to be expected with a house on the water. For three people, one night came to €265, which felt like a lot. Otherwise, it was fine.
