Villa Louis Oostende

It’s a shame to see all the bad reviews, because the house has been renovated beautifully. The appliances are very modern, the internet is super fast, and the cinema room was amazing. The Japanese toilet was cool too :-) A power outlet didn’t work now and then :p

For ten people, there was more than enough room, and the house is in a fairly good location. The bathrooms and most of the walls and paintwork have been updated. Having 12 bikes was really handy, and contact with the landlord was excellent, in English. A few kitchen appliances weren’t working, but the landlord helped sort that out. Check-out was completely hassle-free. There are a lot of frustrating details, though. Many internal doors are difficult to close or have no lock, including the toilet doors, so there’s little privacy in the house. The bathrooms have no curtains, leaving them visible from bedrooms and from the neighbors. We were reasonably satisfied, but the value for money wasn’t ideal, and we’re not sure we’d stay here again.

We had 11 adults and 5 children in the house, and it felt like a madhouse. There were plenty of bedrooms, but the downstairs space was much too narrow. The beds were literally falling apart, and the house wasn’t clean. Maybe it had been cleaned, but not properly: there was dirt from previous guests under the couches, dust on the windowsills, and cobwebs on the curtains. The bedroom windows seemed to be single-glazed, and one in our room wouldn’t close all the way. Streetlight came through the white curtains and lit the room even at night. The bathroom was the only part that had been renovated, and even that wasn’t finished. There was no mirror or curtains. We also spotted a mouse. It really didn’t meet expectations.

We were pleased with our stay. The house is beautifully renovated, with two lovely bathrooms, and there are plenty of rooms for a group. The sun terrace is fantastic, with its large picnic table, barbecue, and pizza oven. Having twelve bikes available was very convenient, and the beach is close by. It seems the negative reviews we’d seen were all from before the renovation. A really handy spot for groups wanting to stay near the beach.
