Martin's All Suites

Being trapped in a lift was traumatic, especially when it suddenly dropped between floors. Reception showed very little compassion and seemed to accept that it was nothing to do with them. We were told we’d have to wait 45 minutes to be freed, which made it seem like this happens regularly. Awful response from the reception staff.

The conference and symposium groups can make things kind of annoying, so I’d avoid those times. Apart from that, we had a great stay and found the spa really relaxing.

The room was really comfortable, and I had a good experience.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including a nice selection of Belgian cheeses, though most of the rest was pretty standard. One coffee machine for the whole hotel wasn’t enough, and clearing tables was slow enough that some guests had to ask staff for help before they could sit down. We liked the room and the bed was comfortable, but the two single beds pushed together weren’t a proper queen or king bed. The welcome tray was sparse too, with just a 12.5 cl bottle of water and two coffee pods for a double room. The main ceiling light didn’t work, and reception didn’t offer a fix. We’d booked a spa treatment, but there were no bathrobes in the room. The spa said they were out of stock, despite reception having told us otherwise. The toothbrush and toiletries kits advertised online were missing as well, and we had to ask for them. Check-in was a frustrating start. Reception serves both All Suites and Agora, and we waited 25 minutes for the key to a room we’d already booked. The spa area itself was pleasant, though it could use closer supervision. People weren’t following the hygiene rules, and children were running and shouting. It’s also a shame there’s no proper whirlpool bath. None of this alone is a deal-breaker, but together these small problems fall short of what we expected from a 4-star hotel.
