A peaceful spot among the trees, with walking trails nearby. The bed was hard and lumpy, though, and sound carried poorly between rooms. I didn’t try the breakfast.

The greenery and quiet setting were a plus, with the city center only about a five-minute walk away. There’s plenty of parking, and the window blinds block out all light. Breakfast was above average, though the two scrambled egg holders, including the backup, were both empty. Cheese options were just a few slices and some packaged Brie. One big irritation for me: the toilet paper came as individual sheets from a dispenser instead of rolls. The hotel bar also serves one of the best beers I’ve ever had. See the label in the photo.

We had a good weekend stay, with lovely green surroundings, a huge open-air car park, and a very clean room. Check-in and checkout were quick, and some of the team were really nice. Our dog was welcome, though there was an extra charge. The key card glitched twice, which was annoying, but staff helped. There wasn’t any shampoo, just multipurpose soap. The balcony had no furniture, and there was only one proper chair indoors. The TV couldn’t cast.

Friendly, helpful staff, a simple and tidy breakfast, and a nice location. Still, my bed was saggy and hard, there was no kettle for coffee or tea, and the bath’s non-slip coating was worn away. At 5 a.m. a rubbish truck came to empty the bottle bank and woke everyone. If your expectations are low, it’s a fine enough choice.
