The breakfast was good, and the surroundings are pretty. But when we arrived, the receptionist didn’t make us feel welcome. We’d booked breakfast, yet she didn’t tell us where it was or when it was served. We only stayed one night, and our room felt dated. The bathroom reminded me of one in an elderly care home, and the corridor smelled really bad.

It’s an amazing place, but sleeping without a mosquito net is impossible. They don’t even provide one in every room. It can’t cost that much to install them, please.....

The location is amazing, but the 3x3 rooms are nowhere near okay. You’re meant to get the full experience, yet there isn’t even a hair dryer? I just can’t manage without one. No elevator, nothing. It could be beautiful, but there’s zero comfort!

The buildings are lovely, and staff replied promptly to our emails before we booked. We had a family room with space for six. It wasn’t city chic, but we weren’t expecting that; it was spacious, clean and modern enough. Breakfast was great. We also walked around the grounds and played on some outdoor pursuits equipment. Maybe we weren’t meant to, but it was there, and that was a nice bonus!

You can rent electric bikes here. The service was outstanding, and the hotel has a traditional medieval feel. Just be prepared for rooms without air conditioning and lots of flies and mosquitoes. Medieval times!
