We spent two nights in the Grain Loft and really enjoyed our stay. The old watermill has lovely authentic details, and the wood scent makes an impression. After a warm welcome from the hostess, we were shown around. Everything has been renovated and finished beautifully, and the service was excellent. Breakfast was generous, brought by the host, and we were lucky to eat outside on the terrace. Sitting in the sun with the valley view and the sound of the mill in the background was a blissful moment. We'll definitely come back.

After a day out walking, cycling, relaxing, or visiting the Kanne caves, we wound down in the wine cellar with wine, beer, a snack platter, and lovely jazz. The place feels modern and peaceful while still fitting the mill, and you can tell a lot of passion went into it. Hans knows a lot about grain and the mill, and as the miller he bakes the bread and pastries for breakfast. Joyce let us try her homemade charcuterie. They're both very friendly and always happy to chat. A place to return to when you want to completely unwind.

We rented bikes at the B&B and spent the days exploring the beautiful surroundings. In the evenings, you can relax in the shared lounge by the crackling fireplace with a book and music, or head into nearby Maastricht. Hans and Joyce are always close by and helpful, and up for a chat, while still giving you space. They really do want to spoil their guests. Our stay at the beautifully renovated water and flour mill was so good that my only complaint is that it was too short. Breakfast each morning was healthy and organic, with a view of cows in the meadow, and Hans's mill-ground bread was delicious. Joyce also served us a wonderful dinner made with excellent local ingredients, which you can order as an extra and which I highly recommend. There's a wine and beer cellar, and the mill renovation itself is worth seeing. It's a great choice for anyone who values beauty, architecture, sustainability, and local craftsmanship, and wants to properly unwind even on a short break.

The waterwheel generates electricity, and we could see it from the grain loft. This beautifully restored watermill sits on the lovely Jeker stream, almost a stone's throw from Maastricht. There are only 4 rooms, all tastefully decorated. We especially liked the breakfast room overlooking the Jeker and the Pietersberg, along with the pleasant sitting room and self-service bar. We forgot to book dinner, but the menus for the following week already sounded delicious. Highly recommended, but book well ahead.

You can borrow bicycles here and ride into the heart of Maastricht. The B&B is in a lovely old watermill just outside the city, with excellent rooms and service. In the morning, there's delicious fresh bread made from flour milled right there. Highly recommend!
