We’ll definitely come back. There was a bit of a wait, but dishes take time to prepare, and why rush in a place that’s meant for relaxing? The portions were generous and the food well prepared. I haven’t had sauerkraut that good even in Alsace, let alone Belgium, which really surprised me. The homemade mashed potatoes instead of whole potatoes were a nice touch, and delicious, just like the other dishes we had. We came in February to visit the Han Caves and found this restaurant among the other places near the caves. Philippe, the owner, gave us a really warm welcome and let us sit wherever we wanted. We loved the authentic bistro atmosphere, relaxed feel and lack of pretension. I don’t understand the negative reviews about the food or service. Philippe is very committed to the restaurant, and it shows in how carefully he listens to customers. We wish him good luck!

The food was delicious. We did have quite a long wait, though maybe we were just hungry 😂. One downside: I was still eating, but they were already clearing the plates from people who had finished.

The menu is simple, and the dishes are homemade. Our meal was good, especially the excellent Ardennes trout. Just don’t come here if you’re in a hurry.

We left disappointed. We ordered our meal around 1:10 pm and didn’t get served until about 2 pm, despite the restaurant being only half full. We had ordered three plates of meatballs, which weren’t great even though they’re supposed to be the specialty. I can’t imagine how long the wait must be in peak season. The attractive storefront had made us expect a good meal, but that impression was quickly spoiled by the waitress’s frosty welcome. We ordered drinks, and the waiter got them wrong. It happens, but it added to the experience.
