We loved the atmosphere and would visit again, but the heating needs attention and the apartment could use renovations. It was December and very cold outside, yet the heat only came on for a couple of hours a day, leaving the place at 18 in the evening. Some of the issues would be easy to fix. The apartment itself was spacious for two, with a nice living room and a good Belgian feel. Everything worked, apart from the heating problem. It’s in an old building right in the centre of Spa, just minutes on foot from the main street. We found free street parking nearby without trouble, and there’s a bakery across the street for breakfast. Check-in was a bit odd. The hosts didn’t send the key code until noon on the day, despite me asking a few times in advance. The elevator was out of order during our visit, so we walked up two floors.

The apartment was bright, comfortable, and furnished in a contemporary style. It worked well for a couple with dogs, as in our case. Ours was on the first floor, up a carpeted staircase, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The overall hygiene could be better, and I raised that with the landlord. It’s within walking distance of both a supermarket and the centre of Spa. The town is small, with lots of nice restaurants and cafés, and makes a good base for hikes and outings. Germany, France, and Luxembourg are nearby enough for day trips too.

The apartment is spacious, with plenty of room to spread out, and it’s a lovely place to stay about a five-minute walk from the centre of Spa. It takes a little while to work out how the elevator to the apartment operates. Spa is especially pleasant during the day and quieter in the evening. There’s a good range of restaurants to choose from. If you’re visiting Spa, I’d recommend this apartment, where you can do your own thing and enjoy the space.
