De Sampan Hotel

The small room felt too expensive. It wasn't clean either, with trash in the bathroom, including cigarettes and chips. Nobody was there to give us a key, and the instructions for getting one weren't clear. There were no employees around. The walls are very thin, so everyone could hear someone talking on the phone all night.

I used to come here a lot a couple of years ago, but the quality has gone downhill. It's more expensive now, while the food, service, and setting aren't as good. Of the three dishes we ordered, one was okay, one wasn't very nice, and the last was simply inedible.

There were no staff on site apart from check-in, when we were charged the full room price as we registered. We had booked well in advance as part of a touring holiday, only to arrive and find the ground floor restaurant and bar closed for extensive building work. The whole building smelled of brick and cement dust. I wouldn't recommend it.

The bed was great, and after doing Dodentocht I slept really well. The location was good, very close to the train station, and there was a very good restaurant downstairs. Can't complain about the bed quality at all.
