Hotel La Métairie & Son Auberge

A lovely little hotel in a picturesque, quiet village, with spotless modern rooms and excellent breakfasts. Just a heads-up if you're sharing a room, the bathrooms have no doors, so you'd better really trust your travel companion! :)

After more than 20 years of visiting this restaurant, we're disappointed by how it's changed under the new management. It used to offer great food at fair prices in a warm, charming setting. Now La Metairie feels like an ordinary brasserie with none of that charm. For example, with trout, a regional specialty, you'd expect the whole fish, not a piece of factory-processed pinkish meat. We won't be going back.

The place looked so lovely that I asked about getting a table, but unfortunately we couldn't be seated because of reservations. As we were leaving, I thought it would be a shame not to at least have a drink in such a nice spot. There were more than eight empty tables outside, so I thought that might be possible. But when I asked, the presumed owner replied, "No, this is my house do you think I know what I am doing, I said No!" I've never had such a sour response. I can only presume it was because of my age, and possibly how I was dressed. It really did look like a nice place to stop for a drink or something to eat, but we won't put up with that behavior. Plenty of other places would be happy to have us and serve us with a smile.

The main waiter refused to serve us, which was a pity because the place looks beautiful from outside.
