We only wish we'd had more time at Het Pahilleke. It was our favorite place to stay in Belgium, and we'd love to return with our family. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and decorated with care. Our hostess was so sweet, and her breakfast was the best we had on the trip. From the B&B, it's an 8-10 minute walk to the Westvleteren brewery, along a refreshing path through woods and fields. Thanks for such a lovely stay 🤍

Beer fans will find plenty to like here. The B&B is about 800m from Sint-Sixtus Abbey, where Westvleteren is brewed, and it's a 10 minute walk through lovely countryside to In De Vrede, where you can try and buy the monastery's beer and food. Our host also keeps a selection of local beers in the fridge and knows a lot about the area's beer spots. She suggested a visit to St. Bernardus Brewery, about a 10 minute drive away, and that tour turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip. It cost 12.50euro and included a 90 minute tour, two tastings, plus four bottled beers and a glass as a gift. St. Bernardus used to brew the consumer version of Westvleteren 12 before the rules for Trappist breweries changed, so the visit ties in with the area's beer history. We also learned that this B&B is the "Pahilleke Farms" mentioned on In De Vredes own website, whose jams and spreads are sold in the cafe shop. Our host had useful suggestions for restaurants with beer and food pairings, along with other places to see. I hadn't found that kind of beer-tourist information elsewhere. We found the B&B while looking for somewhere near Sint-Sixtus Abbey and In De Vrede Cafe, because we wanted to buy and try the famous Westvleteren beers. The price felt like a great deal for what was included. The house and room were beautiful, the scenery was incredible, and our room's bathtub was big enough for two to relax in comfortably. The host was friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke very good English. Breakfast was excellent, with much of it, including jams, juice, and a vitamin shot, made from scratch using ingredients from the garden. We took lots of photos of the place. I'm pretty sure I'll be back in this part of Belgium, and I'd definitely stay here again.

A lovely place to get away from the city and unwind, with peaceful walking trails nearby. The B&B was comfortable and clean, and the hostess was friendly. Breakfast featured local products. Highly recommended.
