Albena’s location is great, and I liked the varied food and pleasant rooms, though they’re on the small side. The pool food was good too, and Mrs. Elena P. and the charismatic brunette waiter there were nice. Iva and the kids’ animation team were also very good. But the main restaurant made this a two-star stay for me, despite the hotel’s other strengths. The restaurant felt hostile, with hardly a smile from anyone and a sense that tips were expected even when service was poor. One morning a tall, grumpy older waiter wouldn’t let me serve myself coffee and acted aggressively. I asked him to call the manager, Mr. Vasilev, whom I called a Russian mobster, but he didn’t come. I found him sitting on the terrace looking at the view. The previous night he had approached my family and friends to ask when we were leaving, saying other guests were upset that we’d reserved a table for ten for eight nights. I thought that was rude. We had half board, so where were we meant to eat? Calming other guests wasn’t my job, and the reservation wasn’t a favor to us. Another morning, a chef refused to make me an omelette without mushrooms, pointed to the ones already made, and walked away. At the pool, a teenage boy, around 15 or 16, was nude for two or three minutes on each of two consecutive days, with little kids nearby, and nobody did anything. The bill has a tip option if you charge it to your room. I’d mark X and tip people individually if they deserve it. I don’t recommend this hotel. Avoid it. This was my second visit and my last.

The pool was the biggest disappointment: it was dirty, with sand and black spots floating in the water, and I even stepped on a fish spine with ribs still attached. We reported the problems several times, but nothing changed. The hotel has a lot of potential, though. We liked the gym, which was well laid out and had new machines, and the spa center was amazing. The restaurant and bars had a good range of options, but they cost extra. Our room was comfortable and looked like the photos, and the hotel itself was clean, attractive, and well kept. Albena Resort felt greener and calmer than other resorts, with nice paths and things like calisthenics parks and a Dino Park within walking distance. We visited in early July 2025. The pool hygiene and the lack of response to our complaints need attention.

The spa was great, and the beach is amazing. Service was fine, though I wouldn’t call it five-star. The VIP rooms on the 8th and 9th floors are lovely, but the other family flats are very small. I’d rate this as a four-star hotel.

The restaurant was unbelievable, and the beds were very comfortable. Our spacious room had a breathtaking view of the beach and the Black Sea. There was always enough space in the restaurant and sun beds available, and the gym was well equipped, with a view from the treadmills 🤩. We’d been here before and were already happy with it, but this stay was even better. The facilities are still awesome, and the staff and management seem to be aiming for truly international customer service. They were warm, friendly, and keen to help. It’s a comfortable, luxurious place with family friendly facilities, and it worked just as well for a couple or a group of friends. It feels like a slice of paradise. I’ll be dreaming about it until next summer’s holiday. Thank you, Paradise Blue, for an unforgettable stay. I’ll definitely come back.

Our daughter had a fantastic time, especially with the animation and kids’ team, and the hotel’s right on the beach in the middle of everything. But as parents, we didn’t feel the price matched what we got. The place didn’t live up to its five-star promise. It felt like “fake luxury,” with premium prices but quality and service that fell short, trading on its German reputation without delivering a true luxury stay. The first impression was rough. Our transfer from the airport was in a poor, unsafe vehicle with no air conditioning. The ride back was fine, so the inconsistency stood out. This probably wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but I wanted other people to know. The resort is an expensive bubble, despite Bulgaria’s reputation for affordability. Be careful with ATMs: avoid standalone machines and choose to be charged in local currency, BGN, to avoid the DCC scam, which can cost a lot. The hotel had a proper ATM, so use that one. Most staff seemed to work hard and were generally helpful, though a few had bad attitudes. To the person in the lobby checking reviews, I know you’re doing your job, and thank you. If the price matched the quality, there’d be no problem. Don’t trust the five-star reviews or you may be disappointed.
