I gave it one star because I couldn’t give it zero. We booked through Booking, and the reservation was accepted. Then, on check-in day, they messaged us to say there were no rooms available. Since it wasn’t our fault we couldn’t stay, I asked them to cancel so we wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee. They didn’t do it, and when I requested a fee-free cancellation through Booking, they never replied. Instead, they told Booking that we hadn’t shown up. They didn’t let us stay at the property and took no responsibility for the mistake. It seems this may be how they do business: accept bookings without rooms available, notify guests on arrival day, then leave the reservation uncancelled so they can charge a late cancellation fee.

The accommodation was nice, and both the food and service were excellent.

The room was spacious and quiet, though the floor creaks. Breakfast is served late if you’re hoping to leave in the morning. The omelette comes without tomatoes, cucumbers, or any other vegetables. Coffee and a small tea are included, but you have to pay for anything else.

A lovely central hotel with a pretty garden. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and fully equipped. The traditional Bulgarian food was all delicious, although the portions were a little small. I recommend it if you’re staying overnight in Arbanasi.

The restaurant serves quality food, and breakfast was fresh, generous, and carefully prepared. The room and all the nearby spaces were very clean, and the staff were friendly and spoke English.
