The villa sits above Balcic, with an extraordinary view over the whole city and out to sea. It’s in a quiet, cozy neighborhood, and there’s plenty of space inside, with lots of rooms, air conditioning throughout, hot water, and a big kitchen stocked with what you need. There are also three terraces with tables. Getting there is the one drawback: the access road is 500 m from the main road, and while about 300 m is passable, the next 100 m is very steep. With a low car, don’t attempt it; you need at least a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Still, the trip is worth it, and I highly recommend the villa.

The drive up to the villa is rough, and the road is in really poor shape. Expect your shoes and car to get a little dirty. Once you’re there, though, the place is outstanding: spacious, clean, and with an amazing view.

For the price, keep your expectations modest. There are few amenities, though the washing machine works very well. The road is steep, over 10%, and has metal wires on it, so take care. We had only six duvets and cups for eight people, and both the cutlery and furniture were very low quality. One of our beds collapsed, and the septic tank needed pumping. Even so, we had a fairly nice time.

From the villa on the hill, you get a view across the sea, which helps make up for the access road. It’s very steep and unpaved, and getting there is difficult. I wouldn’t recommend choosing this place unless you have an off-road vehicle. Albena is very close by.

We couldn’t stay there for even 10 minutes, so all eight of us had to find somewhere else. It was a total disappointment: the place seemed not to have been cleaned in ages and smelled terribly of mold. There are three upstairs bedrooms and a large living room downstairs, but you can’t sleep in the living room. The beach is very far away, and reaching the house in a small car is difficult.
