Everything was extremely dirty. The kitchen was enough to make you sick, and the bathrooms looked as if they hadn't been cleaned since 1944. Glad I only stayed one night. Never again!

The bright, spacious rooms have sea views, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but this doesn't have the comfort of an apartment. The housekeeper is friendly and speaks Russian, which helps if you speak Russian but not Bulgarian. Cooking is a real challenge: there’s no gas, only single-burner electric stoves, so heating food or boiling water takes a long time. If you’re hoping to make borscht or soup, or cook dinner quickly for a family of three without a lot of effort, forget it. That's a major drawback.
