The mealtimes are wonderfully relaxed. We could show up for breakfast at 10:30 or 11, or dinner at 8 or 9, and there was still fresh, hot food. The food was amazing, and the staff were so welcoming and always ready to help.

We especially appreciated the food and the religious arrangements at Chateau Bansko (Kosher Hotel Bansko). The meals were delicious, nourishing, varied, and very high quality. Kashrut was observed with great care, and there’s an active synagogue with daily prayers and a well-organized, lovely Shabbat atmosphere. The owners were warm and welcoming, and helped us plan excursions with useful suggestions for local sights. The Bansko area has plenty of places to hike and visit. We rented a car at Sofia Airport, and the drive was easy and pleasant. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and has an authentic, well-maintained European style. The atmosphere felt calm and inviting throughout. We enjoyed every moment and highly recommend it for a relaxed kosher holiday with excellent food and personal service. We’ll definitely return.

Eight of us couldn’t sleep because the mattresses were awful. The service was horrible, the elevators were out of order, and nobody helped us. The hotel smelled, the pool wasn’t suitable for children, and there was no shuttle to the ski area. There was nothing. It was a bad experience.
