Durchova Kashta Family Hotel

The hosts were friendly and helped me sort out parking, which was a real problem in the area. We could talk in either Bulgarian or English. The rooms were clean, with lovely balconies looking out at the snowy mountains. Comfortable beds, and we made good use of the kettle and couch. We really enjoyed staying here. I didn't try the sauna, which costs extra, but it could be worth checking out. There was also a cute dog waiting to greet us at reception.

Our rooms were warm, with hot water as soon as you turned on the tap. They were functional and reasonably clean, though both bathrooms smelled of sewage. We were on the fourth floor, and with no elevator, heavy bags could be a struggle. Breakfast cost an extra 3 euro per person per day, despite being mentioned in the description. There was no buffet, just a basic plate with ham, cheese, butter, and an egg, plus a few slices of bread and cake. Our group of five got only four slices. Coffee came without milk, and there was no water unless you asked. The listing also mentioned parking, but there was no lot, only a dusty field a couple of blocks away.

It's a quiet, friendly place for people with simple needs, close to the pedestrian street and the center. There's a small dining room by reception and lockers for ski equipment on the first floor. The place is clean, but there's a sewage smell in the bathroom. The staff are friendly and speak basic English to understand what you need.

A quiet spot that's very close to the city centre. There are rooms in different sizes, so it works well for a one- or two-night rest.
