The best place to stay in Bansko.

Everything was cozy, warm and clean, and the owners were polite, but it all looked old. Most of the furniture and the last renovation or refresh were from over 20 years ago. It seems the investment was made long ago and has brought in returns since, but apparently nothing is put back into the place unless absolutely necessary. Even the lamps had incandescent bulbs, the walls were whitewashed rather than painted, and the sockets and bathroom cabinet looked like they were from the same era. They were yellowed despite the rooms getting little sun. I like whitewashed walls, but our country house was built that way 40 years ago. I don't know whether 40lv per person is a fair price. I didn't choose the hotel myself, and I'd rather not go back.

For skiers, there's a free shuttle to the mountain three times, going there and back. The rooms are warm, have balconies and mountain views, and are cleaned daily. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, with something different each day. Vladimir (the owner) is a champion biathlete and former national team member. Krasimira (the owner) is a teacher and an excellent cook. A great budget place for a holiday, highly recommended for skiers.

Room #10 on the third floor was cozy, affordable and good quality, with a balcony looking out toward the street and mountains. Rooms are cleaned daily. Room #3 is cramped and faces the courtyard, with a tiny bathroom and a shower that has neither a curtain nor a tray.
