Parklands Hotel

The apartment itself was fine, and the hotel was clean and in a good location, but the staff's attitude made our stay very unpleasant. We had booked through Airbnb because our host owns an apartment in the hotel. Although we had paid our host for parking, staff reacted negatively when we parked, as though we shouldn't be there. We urgently needed milk for our 3-year-old and asked where a nearby supermarket was. They rudely told us to ask our Airbnb host. We only wanted basic information, and the lack of empathy was disappointing. The apartment heating had also been turned off with no warning. I don't know whether the hotel or host was responsible, perhaps there was an issue between them, but that wasn't acceptable. We paid for one day of pool access, but it was cold and uncomfortable, especially for children. The air was around 20°C and the water about 28°C. Before paying, we tried to take a quick look at the pool. A staff member chased after us and rudely said Airbnb guests couldn't enter, even though we were fully dressed and only looking, not trying to use it. At another point, when I tried to put rubbish in the bins near the hotel, a staff member gestured frantically as if I wasn't even allowed to throw it away there. The apartments were fine, but staying through Airbnb doesn't justify such unprofessional, disrespectful treatment.

The extra bed was so bad that it was basically impossible to sleep on. Its mattress was extremely thin and old, and the rooms and furniture throughout the hotel feel near the end of their life. The place looks as though no real investment has been made since it opened. Even the elevator is worrying: once inside, you can see down the shaft. The apartment-style rooms are spacious, but very uncomfortable. The sauna shower didn't work, with its faucet detached and lying on the floor. The pool smelled strongly of chlorine, and we couldn't stay there longer than 10 minutes. We were charged an extra €130 per night for our two children, although the advertised Booking price explicitly included them with their correct ages entered. I don't mind paying €500 a night, but not for a 2-star hotel presenting itself as a “4-star” property. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The view was great, and the room was clean and spacious. Everything worked properly, which you don't find at every hotel, unfortunately. Had a great time, 10/10, and I'd definitely come back.

The jacuzzi was hot, though the clean pool wasn't. Food was okay, and breakfast was nice. The location is good, with the supermarket and other shops and restaurants about a 10-minute walk away. The colleagues were kind and polite, and the hospitality was lovely. Highly recommended! 🙂
