The room and bathroom were enormous, but the stale smell and filthy furniture were repulsive. The restaurant had poor ventilation, so our clothes smelled of cooking after dinner. The glasses and cutlery didn't look hygienic, and the food tasted bad. Cheap ingredients did not give it the feel of a luxury hotel. Water from the minibar cost 330 ml- 6 lv 😡 at a UAI hotel. The parking policy was also ridiculous: you had to leave your room to get your car out. We expected far more from a five-star place. In three words, choose another hotel in Golden Sands.

We had a memorable stay at this five-star all-inclusive hotel. The management was attentive and well organized, and every staff member treated us with warmth and professionalism. We felt they genuinely cared about guests' comfort. We're grateful to Welburg Travel Agency for recommending the hotel and arranging everything. I worked at Meliá Grand Hermitage, and I feel I have to speak honestly. Seasonal staff were treated as disposable, not as people. Workers came from several countries after being promised fair conditions, but we faced food poisoning, racism, and inhumane treatment. About 15 of us became sick from staff food in just one week. Management wanted us back at work on time and threatened to cut our pay or send us home when we complained. We were promised medical help, but sick workers were told to walk 20 minutes to find a doctor themselves, even when they were vomiting or too weak to move. One coworker had to clean up his own vomit and keep working. The head of the food department made racist remarks, mocked us, and said we didn't “deserve” meat. When we stood up for ourselves, they threatened to throw out our luggage and make us sleep in the street. The food for guests wasn't safe either. I saw old meat reused and covered with flavoring to hide its smell. Some guests at the American restaurant may have noticed it wasn't fresh. I also personally saw cockroaches in the kitchen and near guest food. When English and German guests complained about hygiene, including staff using the same gloves for dirty and clean dishes, management told us to ignore them and just pretend to fix things in front of them. Things changed only when health inspectors came. The hotel knew they were coming, cleaned up for show, and went back to its usual unsanitary practices right afterward. No proper food, no healthcare, no humanity. Just money and image. We were sick, exhausted, and broken, which is why you didn't see us smiling this season. If you care about your health or standing against racism and exploitation, boycott Meliá Grand Hermitage.

The service was impeccable, and the staff were trying their best, though there are always some rude people ☺️. The food was clean but really boring, nothing special, and the place was extremely crowded. Three meals a day felt exhausting, for the staff too. I wish they served just breakfast and dinner. Maybe that's part of why the food quality was low. I liked the traditional decor in the rooms, but the location was inconvenient. It looks like it's on the beach, yet it's actually far away and you have to travel to get there. Even popping back to your room for something isn't easy. I don't think I'll come again because of the food.
