My husband and I stopped at reception to ask whether any rooms were available. Nobody came while we waited, so we had to ask around. A boy eventually told us there were no rooms. As we were leaving, a woman asked if we were hotel guests. When we said we weren’t, she told us we had no right to be there. Since when is going to a hotel reception trespassing? It felt so xenophobic. At least now I know where not to stay.

The owners are friendly and the hotel is clean, but the winter drive can be a challenge: about 30km on a narrow, icy road. The rooms were at 21°C, which felt a little too cold for winter. I also found the food and drinks good but expensive. At reception, a toilet smell greets you, and the owners should do something about it. It wasn't a bad stay, but I've had better and probably wouldn't return. Maybe if the run for money were less obvious, it would have felt different.

The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with birds singing all around. The property is spacious, clean and cozy, a real gem in nature. We ate delicious food and tried the homemade "tuica"; the ice cream made in-house was the best. The hosts were open-hearted, friendly and easy to talk to, and they made us feel like family. The view is breathtaking, and although getting here from Veliko Tarnovo isn't easy, the trip is worth it. I stayed for a few days in June with my partner and family. The owners are lovely and attentive, always checking if you need anything. The food and wine were good too. My only comment is that the bathroom water boiler can be a bit noisy at night.
