The staff were nice and professional, and the food at the restaurant was delicious for reasonable prices. Breakfast came with my stay and there was plenty of it, with lots of healthy choices. I also really enjoyed the SPA and its treatments, and the indoor pool was just right at 31 degrees for swimming or floating around. It’s an older property, so the rooms could use an update, especially the bathrooms, though they were still clean and spacious. This is a family place, so there are lots of kids unless you visit off season on a weekday. The outdoor pool was closed because they’re building a new wing. I had a great stay and will definitely come back.

The indoor pool has a sliding glass roof, and the sauna area is extensive, with steam, salt, infrared and Finnish saunas plus heated loungers. Soft lounge music was playing, but it was hard to relax with children shouting, jumping and tossing inflatable balls in the crowded pool. Water kept splashing in my face. The lifeguard sat with his head down looking at his phone in a gamer chair and did nothing to keep things orderly or quiet. The huge building has an authentic Soviet-era feel, with imposing concrete architecture and dated decor from the facade, including the hotel name on the roof, through the corridors. My room was very large, with two beds and a sofa bed. The mattresses were firm and there were pillows in different densities. The balcony had a little table and chairs overlooking the outdoor pool. Heating was a major problem: even in December the room was so hot I had to leave the balcony door half open to breathe. The bathroom was large and had a bathtub, but it was so high that getting in and out safely practically took a ladder. Water pressure was weak. Breakfast had lots of hot and cold, sweet and savory options, though the machine juices tasted artificial and the strong coffee was poor. The receptionist spoke no English, but we got by with signs and gestures. Parking on site was free.

The hotel needs maintenance. The AC was very loud and the bathtub leaked. We went hoping to use the spa services, but there weren’t enough staff: only one lady was available, so everything was fully booked. Booking ahead wasn’t possible.

Service was pretty good, and we were quite happy with the massage. Still, the place has a lot of potential that’s let down by basic maintenance issues. The bathroom mirror was rusty, tiles were missing from the outdoor jacuzzi, the steam bath was out of order, and the outdoor pool water felt a little too chilly. The upper control panel on the VIP lounge jacuzzi didn’t work, and there were no single-use slippers in the room.
