Spa Hotel Hissar

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Hisar in Hisarya, with a lovely atmosphere and a high standard of service. Before dinner, a young dark-haired receptionist was especially kind, attentive and professional. She offered us an August deal and made us feel genuinely welcome. The only disappointing moment came as we were leaving, when another receptionist was unhelpful and had an attitude that didn’t fit the rest of our experience. Even so, we had a very good stay and would visit again.

The staff were nice, and the spa center was good, with a big swimming pool. The smaller pools are too small, though, and there aren’t enough sun chairs for a hotel this size. The room felt old-fashioned and had a particular odor. We also found a cockroach. The bed was very comfortable, but the hotel needs modernization.

The SPA was acceptable, and the vegetables were fresh and good. Those were the only positives for me. The food overall was awful, probably the worst I’ve eaten at a hotel, not just a 4-star one. Restaurant service was poor. There were queues for food, and we had to ask waiters several times for the same things. At the Panorama restaurant, our lunch menu order took 50 minutes, even though it was at most half full. The food there was quite bad as well. The hotel is barely a 2-star place to me, and hasn’t been worthy of 4 stars for quite a while. Everything is old and smells like your grandma’s house. Things in the room technically work, but barely. The shower handle wouldn’t stay in place, and the refrigerator was only 15° at most and couldn’t keep anything cool. We visited in January. The outdoor pools were empty except for one. That pool was hot in some parts, but not throughout. The city has hot thermal springs, but apparently there isn’t enough water to supply all the hotels in the region.

A lovely swimming pool for actually swimming and a good SPA made this a nice place in general. But the bowling service nearly ruined the experience and definitely spoiled our mood. They refused our explicit reservation made in advance, with what felt like made-up excuses. It happened twice, on two nights.
