Hotel Bulgaria

After an eight-hour bus trip from Varna, we were tired and wanted to get to our rooms quickly. Check-in was fast, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect, with a drugstore and an ATM by the hotel entrance. The breakfast was filling and really enjoyable. We had plenty of space, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and a decent view. The TV remote took some figuring out, while the slippers were paper thin and the shower head was disappointing. There’s a casino right next door, and at night we heard some strange noises. The locked door also opened by itself. It was still a great experience, and I’d recommend it.

The staff speak Russian fluently, which was really nice. The place was very clean, the breakfast was good, and the Turkish tea was great!

For what it is, it’s a nice two-star hotel in the center of town. The breakfast was poor for the price per night, and it’s served in a basement about 30 meters outside the hotel. Noise is the bigger problem: rooms facing the main street get constant traffic, while on the other side, around ten air-conditioning and ventilation units run all day and night. With the window open, it’s impossible to sleep.

The central location was the only good part. A stale, intrusive smell hangs around the hotel and gets worse as you go deeper inside, reaching its worst when you enter the room. We were greeted by a dirty toilet that clearly hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. Then there was a note saying, “Disinfected for your hygiene.” If that’s how they look after my hygiene, I’d rather drown in a swamp. The walls were covered with stains of unknown origin, and you spend your stay dodging them like Pac-Man. Breakfast was bland and poor quality. The staff were annoyingly dismissive, more like garden gnomes pretending to work. I don't usually leave reviews when I have nothing nice to say, but people considering this place should know what I experienced, and stay potential guests. If they can't make the conditions at least decent, they should change the hotel’s name. It’s a disgrace to the country. Thanks, and have a nice day.
