Shaban and John really make the stay special. They kept checking in and made sure everything was going well. The apartments are roomy and well equipped, with enormous terraces overlooking the lake, and some units and the lakehouse can accommodate guests with limited mobility. There’s plenty to do nearby, from birdwatching and hikes to exploring the area’s history, far more than fits into one visit. Or just stay by the water: there’s a small sparkling pool, kayaks for rent, and a little shop with snacks and cold beer. What a find.

We stayed glamping beneath the Milky Way. Such a stunning place, and the hosts were just perfect.

The apartment design is stylish and clearly well thought out, and the bathroom was the best I've seen in Bulgaria. Our host Shaban was so welcoming, thank you, and I hope we can return. The huge terrace has an unobstructed lake view, almost like being on a Mediterranean liner. Inside, the apartment was very spacious, with enough room for our child to run around like on a football field. The wild surroundings have a calming, almost meditative feel. Getting there means taking a pretty extreme road, but the scenery along it is lovely.

The views are incredible, and once we got there it was a wonderfully peaceful place for a holiday. The road is a dusty track, a bit of a hassle, but absolutely worth it. The owner met us on the main road and guided us down the logging track, and he was a very friendly chap. The kitchen already had basic condiments, and there’s a small shop on site for beer and other bits.
