Park Hotel Kyustendil

The spa was surprisingly uncrowded, which I was glad about. It has one pool, a sauna, a steam room, and a jacuzzi that fits three people. The room itself was a letdown. There were crumbs left on the floor by previous guests, and I couldn't tell whether it had been cleaned at all. We also had ants, and several things were broken, including most of the outlets, the shower door, and a chair. Two beds in the triple room were comfortable, but the third really wasn't. At least the sound isolation was good. We paid for an Easter lunch, but half the food was gone within the first 45 minutes. Food running out at the buffet was an issue at most meals. When we ordered one meal separately, they forgot half our order. Before Easter there weren't any vegan options, which seemed odd to me, since basically every dish had meat. The staff didn't seem very nice. On arrival, cleaning tools and toilet paper were scattered around the corridor, and the cleaning ladies were yelling at each other. The elevator felt scary. It vibrated and made loud noises whenever it started or stopped, and once it dropped a little when I stepped in. It then stopped working on our second night, so I had to climb six flights of stairs. The outdoor wheelchair lift doesn't work. Inside, there seem to be plenty of ramps, but I don't think there's a way for a wheelchair to reach the mineral water pool. I really can't recommend this place.

Stained with some unknown yellow liquid, the hallways added to the smell of boiled rotten eggs throughout the hotel. The food was awful too. I don't recommend it!

Galja, the physiotherapy lady, is a real gem. She's knowledgeable and attentive, and her recommendations are great. If you're looking to recover from arthrutis or traumas, this seems like a good place, with packages that include treatments. It's a former sports facility, so the hotel provides the basics. It's clean and near a park. The outdoor pool can get quite busy, and the indoor one is still under construction. Staff are generally helpful, and the restaurant has a good selection. The food isn't exquisite, but it is fresh. I don't quite understand why families with young kids go there. This isn't an ordinary swimming pool. The water is healing, but having children soak in it too long isn't a good idea.
