Park Hotel Stratesh

The views from the pool and restaurant are beautiful, and the staff were so friendly to us throughout our stay, even though their English isn't very good. They asked what view we wanted from our room and suggested booking the table with the nicest view for dinner. The woman who cleaned our room was especially kind and helped me translate when I couldn't work out how to order from a nearby restaurant. I'd definitely come back. Thank you so much!

Lovech looks wonderful from the hotel's location, but the stay was awful. Our room hadn't been cleaned properly, with little bugs on the curtain and crushed on the carpet. The rooms are dark brown, and the balconies face an overgrown forest instead of the city. There were only two occupied rooms beside ours, and we could hear the neighbors. Breakfast had been left in plastic bags since the night before, there was no coffee, and no staff were around. The door was locked, so we couldn't even get out. DO NOT EVER STAY THERE!

Two little children were playing, and one of the two-year-olds spilled a glass of juice. The owner/receptionist made us pay 15 lev for the glass and spoke to us very rudely. The money isn't the point, it's the attitude. At checkout they kept us waiting while they checked whether we'd stolen or damaged anything. I've worked in hotels and stayed in plenty of places, and I've never seen behavior like that. Their English is very poor too. Horrible experience.

I came for a surprise weekend away, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The people are lovely, the hotel is clean, and the views over the city are great. We're using it as a base to visit the nearby caves and waterfalls.
