Hotel Diplomat Park

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, just what you’d expect at an average hotel. All in all, I enjoyed the stay.

The restaurant wasn’t anything special either. For a meal, go to the 5-star Hotel in the city centre. The “new” part of the hotel looked thrown together from whatever was available: holes in the walls, construction notes on doors, and missing ceiling tiles. The TV remotes didn’t work. I know the stay was cheap, but come on.

I called to reserve a room under a name, but when I arrived after a three-hour trip they couldn’t find it because they’d written the name incorrectly. Since it was the last room, they refused any alternatives, like two single beds, a bigger room, or anything else. The staff were extremely rude and insisted I hadn’t called. I asked whether it was their phone number, and they said it wasn’t. I left furious. Then I called that same number, and the same receptionist who’d denied it was theirs answered and offered me the room I’d reserved earlier. It felt like they were there just to collect wages, not serve customers. I’ll never return or recommend this hotel. Avoid it if you want a roof over your head.

The food was exceptional, made with quality ingredients and cooked nicely. The local quinine felt genuine, and service was quick, polite, and efficient, with reasonable prices. Rooms were quiet, very clean, and had a nice interior, fresh air, and a good view. It’s conveniently located, a five-minute walk from the city centre.
