Hotel Vigo

The spa was a bright spot, with a clean pool and a great massage, and I loved the view from our terrace. There’s an ATM around the corner, currency exchange in the lobby, several grocery shops, and a park with sea views and places for kids to play. But that didn't make up for the stay. The dance club was so loud that resting before 2 a.m. was difficult, so bring earplugs if you're not out partying every night. We booked because the hotel looked good and was near both the beach and the old town. Those were the only positives. The food was extremely bad, so we ate at the nearby little restaurants. The fresh fruit and vegetables were at least edible at breakfast. I wouldn't touch the sausages, salami, or other meat if you care about your stomach and health. They even charged 2 lv for a bowl of hot water to make baby food. There was practically no elevator service. Only one of the two lifts worked, it was very slow, and we waited 10 minutes. You couldn't count on it to go down from the fifth or sixth floor, and the call buttons didn't work. WiFi reached only the lobby. Room internet cost an absurd 12 lv per day. Our room wasn't cleaned once during the eight days. Every other day they left only a small roll of toilet paper, and the toilet was dirty when we first arrived. There was no room service, laundry, ironing, or other service you'd expect from a four-star hotel. Parking cost 10 lv a day extra. There was no real service in general. Some receptionists were rude, and the management was poor for such a nice-looking place. It seemed they'd made the initial investment and then never maintained things or made sure guests were happy, just to save money. I'd rather pay a little more for the four-star hotel I expected. Four stars, seriously? I've stayed in two-star places that were many times better. I give this one a single star, and that's generous. The worst hotel experience I've ever had. Don't stay if you value your holiday and relaxation.

The food was awful, and the hotel itself felt old and dirty, nowhere near deserving four stars. My stay was one of the worst I've had. I was there with my boyfriend, who thought his bracelet had gone missing. When we asked for help, the manager was rude and unpleasant. They offered no assistance and seemed upset with us.

Communication was difficult because the staff didn't know English, and the lobby WiFi was painfully slow. Room internet could be used by only one person. The service was poor, staff had no manners, and the manager raised her voice at guests. The food was bad, and I had a mild case of food poisoning during the holiday. In the kitchen, they wiped the tables with the same broom they used on the floors. There was no hygiene, and I was so unhappy. Our room was in bad shape and untidy when we checked in. The safe was broken, and they never fixed it. This hotel isn't up to four stars and should be closed down. I wouldn't recommend it; the hotel made my holiday a nightmare.

The hotel, pools, room, and gym were great. The food wasn't bad, though it was mostly the same each time, and the internet doesn't seem set up for two devices to use at once. Some employees aren't very good at English, but they were available when we had questions or a problem. A few were also quite professional and nice.
