Park Hotel Asarel

The rooms had plenty of space and were well maintained, and there was a good-sized parking lot. I also liked the large lobby, with lots of tables for possible team-building activities, plus there's a football field. Breakfast was the usual buffet setup, but everything was fresh, and the restaurant was nice. The only real drawback was the lack of a fridge or any way to heat food or even water for tea in the room. Maybe that's intentional so guests use the lobby bar. The hotel itself is really nice.

The rooms had everything we needed, and the hotel itself is new and very clean. The main problems were the restaurant and management. We were there for a company event, and the number of people had been confirmed ahead of time, but there wasn't enough food or drink. They ran out of most things, and management didn't step in to help. Only two people were looking after all the guests, so they were understaffed. The restaurant doesn't look like the pictures here, either, and there are no round tables. We were dissatisfied with the service.

The staff were really friendly, and I had a great time overall. My room was comfortable and had all the essentials, including a hair dryer. The bathroom and hotel amenities were great, too. I loved the terrace and its lovely view of the forest, or really the park side, despite being on the first floor. It was built with some privacy in mind, so the neighbors on either side can't easily see you. The downside was the poor sound insulation. At night, you can hear people walking in the hallway or neighbors opening and closing doors, especially when it's quiet. My room was right by the door to the stairs for the upper floor. Every time it opened or closed, the loud noise made me jump in bed in the middle of the night. Next time, I should probably get a second-floor room, or at least one away from the doors.

I think the hotel is good, and architecturally one of the best in Bulgaria. Just be careful with the price. When you arrive, they insist they won't charge you yet and quote one amount. When you leave, they charge a different, higher price than the one agreed.
